"Time to Face" is an installation about the relativity of time that I
was inspired by from the TV series called Dark.
“The distinction between past, present, and future is nothing but an illusion. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow are not consecutive; they are connected in a never-ending circle. Everything is connected.”
In my project, I aimed to create a fantasy world to convey that time is
bent; it is not as it seems. I hope that the VR installations bend the viewers'
minds as well. This installation is in a virtual world, and people enter by using a VR headset. As for visualization and cinematography, my inspirations
are movies called “The Holy Mountain” by Alejandro Jodorowsky, “Colors
of pomegranate” by Sergei Iossifowitsch Paradschanow, a story called
"Alice in Wonderland," and a painting called “Der Garten der Lüste” by
Hieronymus Bosch.
In the project, I aimed to underline different understandings of time. For this reason, I analyzed my
life and visualized it metaphorically in several different ways. How we experience time, what linearity
entails, what teleportation signifies, and what time travel encompasses were all examined during this
project.
Chess Area -
Chess represents how our decisions shape the future, while the decisions already
made shape today. Players can move the chess pieces and feel the power of
decisions.
Bended Reality -
This is what's known as a fantasy forest, where landforms are distorted and unusual. In the lake area of this forest, players are constantly transported to other parts of the map, making it difficult for them to stay in one place. I created this effect by implementing multiple teleportation points within the same area, giving players a constant feeling of uncertainty about their location.
Domino Stones - In this area, I analyzed the consequences of our actions and how far-reaching these actions' results can be — the consequences, even if the actions are small — and the idea of whether we can really stop these consequences.
